What to Expect

  • LaGrange Baptist Church is a small, independent Baptist church committed to teaching and preaching the Bible. We believe that God has revealed all that is necessary for life and salvation in the Scriptures, and thus all of our ministries are centered on the careful study of the Word of God. We believe that the Gospel is of first importance – that Jesus died for sinners and rose again for their justification – and we seek to live and fellowship together in light of the grace of the Gospel.

  • Each Sunday morning, we have a Sunday school that meets at 9:45 a.m. This is a more informal time of Bible teaching and discussion. The Sunday morning worship service begins at 11:00 a.m. with announcements and a time of worship using traditional hymns and contemporary choruses. After the reading of the scriptures and a time of prayer, the Word of God is preached by our pastor. The service usually lasts about one hour. On the first Sunday of the month, the ordinance of Communion is celebrated during the morning worship service. A dish-to-pass fellowship luncheon is also held on the first Sunday of the month following the morning worship service in the basement of the church and all are welcome to attend.

  • During the Sunday morning worship service, we have a nursery for ages 0 to 3 and children’s church for ages 4 through 3rd grade. In children’s church, your child will learn a Bible story, memory verses, and do crafts and activities relevant to that day’s lesson. All of our children’s workers are screened, background checked, and undergo training so that you can comfortably worship while your children are well cared for.

  • In addition to handicapped parking, we have accessible ramps at both the front and rear building entrances. We also have a few rows of accommodating pews in the front and rear of the sanctuary for anyone who may desire extra space. The lower level of the building is accessible by a ramp and chair lift as well. If you have a child with special needs, please contact our church office at (585) 237-2452, so we can make any necessary accommodations for your child.

  • If you own a Bible, you are encouraged to bring it since our pastor teaches straight from scripture. He will often refer to it and even encourage you to follow along with your copy. If you don’t have one, don’t worry! Each pew has an extra Bible for your use during the service and you are always more than welcome to follow along on your phone or tablet using a Bible app.

  • Typically, our attendees dress in business casual attire for Sunday school and the morning worship service. You will find a range of styles from jeans and polo shirts to sports jackets, button-down shirts, and dress pants for men. For women, a range of jeans and tops/sweaters, dress pants and blouses, and skirts and dresses are common. For our evening services, most feel comfortable in more casual clothes, like jeans/khakis and t-shirts/sweaters. Regardless of your attire, we look forward to welcoming you and making you feel comfortable.
